REINHOLD KELLER has been a permanent fixture in interior shop-fitting for a long time in the hotel, fitness, retail, and restaurant chain sectors. Burger King® has already been one of our loyal customers since 2013, too. We’ve supported and successfully implemented more than 150 projects since then as a general contractor.
A "HOT POTATO" SINCE 1957
When the first WHOPPER went over the counter in 1957, hardly anyone could imagine such a major success story spreading throughout the whole world. The WHOPPER, grilled over an open flame, was a highlight that enjoyed greatest popularity thanks to its individual configuration with fresh ingredients and preparation AFTER placing the order.
In the meantime, Burger King® has over 15,000 stores around the world and does not only serve more than 11 million guests every day, but also has the WHOPPER mentioned above prepared at least 2.1 million times every year. Of course, over an open flame, the speciality of Burger King®. In Germany, more than 850 stores are currently managed with over 24,000 employees. The first was opened in Berlin in 1976. With the fall of the Berlin wall, BK also expanded into the newly formed German States in 1990…
…AND HAS NATURALLY BEEN FURTHER DEVELOPING ITSELF CONTINUOUSLY
It goes without saying that digitalization, changes in visitor behavior and the associated transformation of processes simply do not stop in front of a fast food chain either. There are now order terminals at Burger King® too, that make it possible for customers to configure their orders themselves such as on an ipad and to pay directly. Practically the Amazon for the WHOPPER.
But not only are digital experiences new and important. A store’s design must continually adapt itself, too. Here as well, the customer is becoming increasingly demanding, increasingly less loyal. This means a brand must continuously question itself critically in terms of its look & feel.
Therefore, Burger King®, too. The restaurants shine in a completely different light with the two new concepts “Prime” (link) and “Garden Grill”. Interior fit-out à la American diner gives way with the new concepts peu à peu to a more relaxed, airy design.
PRIME IN GROß-GERAU AND RÜSSELSHEIM
We were there right from the start when it was time to make the two concepts ready for roll-out. Model stores were built at our REINHOLD KELLER headquarters in Kleinheubach and assessed in terms of implementation capability and developed further. And it didn’t take long until we could then also put these on the road. Therefore, also directly the Burger King® restaurant right in front of our own doorstep, concept “Garden Grill”.
Of course, we are constantly on the go with the new concepts since then in Europe. Most recently, once again practically around the corner in Rüsselsheim and Groß-Gerau. The two stores belong to one and the same franchisee and were implemented by us virtually in a double pack. By the way, both now in the “Prime” concept.
“Prime” is styled in the manner of a very open, urban-looking guest room. Highlights are the diverse design elements like, for example, a brick wall as an eye-catcher. This concept also definitely stands out with a certain vintage charm: stylish room dividers combined with matching wooden tables with “burnt in” Burger King® logos and an own lounge area invite you to spend time there. A lot of color accents in lush orange and additional light nuances give that certain kind of buzz in each single store.
JUST IN TIME IN RÜSSELSHEIM
During the project kick-off meeting, it quickly became clear that the delivery situation would be a special one. There were simply no storage facilities on site for the necessary construction materials. The magic word was therefore just in time. In a case like this, project management naturally plays an even greater role because delays here in the construction phases are – let’s say – suboptimal. But when there are some, fast solutions are needed. Our team, together with all sub-trades, solved that in a super way and the franchisee was able to open his restaurant right on time.
GROß-GERAU: RE-MODELING IN FIVE DAYS
The project in Groß-Gerau could be seen as a small-scale boxing match, when what was said here once again was: re-modeling in five days, please. The old Burger King® concept had to be dismantled and disposed of once in order to make room for the new “Prime.” So not a single minute could be lost during these five days. Dismantling of the existing furniture already got started in the night from Sunday to Monday. In the process, the restaurant was not even completely closed once. With a dust protection wall behind the counter, the drive-through was separated from the actual guest room. So there was still at least the possibility to serve Burger & Co. to go. Important for every operator. Because each day closed also means no revenue.
PRAISE FOR THE REINHOLD KELLER TEAM
Let’s simply let our partner talk here, who thanked our team after the project by sending the following e-mail: “I would like to take this opportunity to express my thanks for the outstanding implementation of our remodeling projects in Rüsselsheim and Groß-Gerau. I was impressed by the professionalism that was demonstrated right from the start of the project up to implementation and completion. Processes at the construction site for both projects were seamless, and here again, the collaboration with you and construction management on site was absolutely excellent.
You can be sure that you’ll be our first contact partner for future projects.”
