REINHOLD KELLER GROUP AS HIEX DEVELOPMENT PARTNER
In the fall of 2016, the Holiday Inn Express in Karlsruhe opened its doors with a grand opening party. At the time, this was the first new construction anywhere in Germany with the new HIEX Generation IV interior fittings concept. As a development partner, we supported the franchisor and Sierra Hotel Management GmbH and were able to contribute our many years of expertise in the hotel sector.
HIEX GENERATION IV: THE NEWEST THING IN THE GERMAN HOTEL MARKET
In 2016, the HIEX Generation IV concept was something completely new in Germany. The challenge was that the existing design booklet from the UK had to be adapted to the German market. What was required especially here was flexibility, as franchisors are also continuously gathering important insights from their experiences in other markets and quite often the design will be adapted again as the project gets going. One thing is certain in all our projects from the start – no matter what obstacles stand in the way, the specified timeframe will be adhered to. The deadline for us is the opening day.
Together with the franchisor, Intercontinental Hotel Group, and the franchisees Uwe and Ellen Aschke, the sole shareholders of Sierra Hotel Management GmbH, we set out to find solutions that would be both ingenious and suitable for everyday use. This meant the existing design concept continued to evolve following creative rounds of discussion. Some welcome and important side effects that occurred due to the constructive meetings with all the stakeholders were cost benefits and potential savings for our clients.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALITY PAY OFF
Our wealth of experience, including the introduction of new concepts in the hotel sector, also paid off in Karlsruhe three years ago. Due to our in-house production, the internal communication channels between all sectors are very short and they enabled fast, effective action to be taken.
In addition to the design, cost effectiveness and quality also played a major role in the new construction of the Holiday Inn Express Karlsruhe. Because, for franchisees, it is not only the price of the interior fittings that is crucial but also their robustness and durability. The furniture is put to the test in the hotel every day and has to withstand all kinds of stress. We have guaranteed this for many decades and now run one of the best and most modern production facilities in Europe where our company is based in Kleinheubach, Lower Franconia.
HIEX GENERATION IV: A DESIGN CONCEPT COMES OUT ON TOP
These days, a hotel is no longer just a place to sleep and the benchmark is always higher than ever. The HIEX Generation IV interior fittings concept is designed to meet the needs and requirements of today’s smart travelers. Among other things, it includes a functional and well-conceived design, which turns a hotel stay into an event.
The Holiday Inn Express Karlsruhe welcomes its guests with an open, airy lobby that invites you to stay a little longer and provides some charming ways of getting away from it all. An electric fireplace with a deceptively real looking fire, flickers in the guests’ faces and conveys a feel-good atmosphere. Gold chain curtains act as room dividers yet still leave areas feeling airy.
The reception consists of two small bars, which do not create any barrier at all but where there is still plenty of space for check-in. A particular highlight is the rear wall of the reception, which is connected to the adjacent bar. Projecting elements and indirect LED lighting conjure up a wonderful impression of depth. In the bar area, illuminated LED glass panels serve as shelves and provide space for spirituous beverages.
Finished in a deliberately bright look were the individual corridors, on which the 115 air-conditioned double rooms are located. The hotel rooms have a simple but chic design. The large, comfortable beds were fitted with a padded, noise-reducing headboard. The source of inspiration here was the aircraft seat in business class. The traditional desk was replaced by a flexible corner to work and rest in, consisting of a comfortable chair and a table that can move around freely in space and has several USB ports. The guest experience is topped off by a smart TV, which enables guests to stream their own media or register apps on the hotel’s free wi-fi.
THE HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS KARLSRUHE SUCCESS STORY
Close coordination, open and honest communication and the resulting cooperation of all the project participants in a spirit of partnership contributed significantly to its success. “Our strengths include flexibility and adaptability. In the construction of the Holiday Inn Express Karlsruhe, our team demonstrated with distinction that new requirements or changes of any kind at short notice are no stumbling blocks,” says André Leibacher, head of Business Development and Marketing at Reinhold Keller GmbH.
The Reinhold Keller Group has successfully completed more than ten Holiday Inn Express new construction projects in the past three years.
